A small number of male and female college students were among those studied by researchers. Half of the face was covered in foundation cream on the forehead and top cheek. The other half was still empty.

The whole face increased in moisture after exercise, but the makeup region had more moisture than the rest of the face.  Skin pore size rose following exercise on the parts of the face without makeup, but not as much on the makeup side. The makeup area saw a drop in oil content whereas the non-makeup area saw an increase.

The results of this study point to the need to examine how people who wear makeup while working out alter in terms of their complexion.

This study suggests that wearing a lot of makeup, such as cream foundation, while working out in May because perspiration builds up to block pores and cause other skin issues. Therefore, to preserve healthy skin during exercise, it is advised to choose lighter makeup or oil-free products.

Cleanse your face and body after working out to get rid of extra oil, perspiration, germs, and product residue that might aggravate folliculitis or acne.

Always remember to protect your skin from the sun when exercising outside. Don’t forget to put sunscreen on your lips, neck, and ears in addition to wearing a hat and sunglasses.
