Sim Card Scam: There will be a change in the rules of SIM card to prevent scam, TRAI said, the rule will be implemented from July 1
Regarding mobile number portability, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has said from July 1, 2024 that if any person swaps the SIM card, then his number will not be ported to any other operator within 7 days. TRAI has taken this step to stop Sim Card Scam.
TRAI has issued these rules to stop Sim Card Scam
- TRAI has said that after July 1, 2024, if any SIM remains closed for a time period, then the operator can deactivate the SIM card.
- Now to get a new SIM, a valid identity card and address proof will have to be provided.
- The SIM of any company will not be activated without biometric verification under any circumstances
- SIM sellers of any company sell SIM by setting up stalls. They will be given SIM in a fixed amount so that they cannot do any scam.
- To prevent SIM card scam, prepaid SIM cards will also have to be registered with the correct address and identity card like postpaid SIM cards.
- Most important rule regarding mobile number portability: Now if any person ports his mobile number to any other operator, he will not be able to port it to any other operator for 7 days. However, after 7 days, he will be able to port it to any other operator easily.
- You get fraud calls. You become a victim of that fraud call. Now this will not happen because the name will be written on the number from which the fraud call will come. This name will be the same name which is written while taking the registered SIM card.
