“Ghudchadi” is a lovely Indian romantic comedy which was directed by Binoy Gandhi , it has the essence of together love, family values, and intergenerational connections. Set in New Delhi, the film introduces us to the Sharma family, who are stubborn believers in caste-based marriages. This film was released on 9 August 2024
The story starts taking an amazing plot when two lovers, Chirag (played by Parth Samthaan) and Devika (Khushalii Kumar), are separated due to societal norms. Years later, their children find themselves falling in love, despite the same obstacles. As the new generation navigates their feelings, the old flames reignite, leading to a heartwarming and unexpected twist.
Raveena Tandon was cast as Menaka, portraying both grace and depth. Parth Samthaan delivers emotional scenes well, although the writing occasionally loses strength. Sanjay Dutt’s portrayal of Veer is sincere, though it lacks the intensity we’ve come to expect from him. Binoy Gandhi’s direction establishes a relatable environment, capturing the essence of family dynamics.
The film’s music, composed by Sukhbir, Tanishk Bagchi, and Lijo George-DJ Chetas, adds a great charm. Different tracks like “Punjabi Munde” and “Dil Vasda” resonate with viewers. Visually, the film captures the vibrancy of Delhi, with colorful frames and lively sequences.
Critics have been divided. While some appreciate the nostalgic feel reminiscent of ’90s Bollywood, others find the screenplay predictable. Sukanya Verma of Rediff.com gives it 1.5 stars, while Nirali Kanabar of OTT Play rates it 2/5. Dhaval Roy of The Times of India settles at 2.5 stars, and Sushmita Dey of Times Now rates it 3/5.
“Ghudchadi” may not be groundbreaking, but it offers a pleasant watch for fans of family dramas and romance. Its outdated yet melodramatic climax brings about a happy ending, leaving viewers with a warm feeling.
