Kangana’s Statement on the Movie

The news agency PTI said that Kangana released a statement stating, “Emergency is my most ambitious project and second directorial post-Manikarnika, we have the top of Indian & global talent come together for this big budget, impressive period drama.”

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut wrote, directed, and produced this film and she has announced its release date. The film centres on one of the most contentious eras in Indian history following independence, spanning from 1975 to 1977, during which time Prime Minister Indira Gandhi proclaimed a state of emergency across the country. Elections were cancelled and restrictions were placed on press freedom and civil freedoms throughout that period.
